Many people assume that all hypnotherapy types are the same. But there are actually many different hypnotherapy types to choose from.
I specialize in four specific hypnotherapy types. Those are NLP, RTT, QHHT (PLR), and LBL.
Those acronyms might not mean much to you yet, but I’m going to explain the differences in this post. And I’ll explain what a session with me is like!

NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming)
Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) is a hypnotherapy type (or method) of mind reframing. It helps people improve their thoughts and behaviors using language patterns.
NLP can be used to help people overcome phobias, decrease depression and anxiety, and help with the negative side effects of PTSD. It’s also been one of the most relied upon therapies to help break bad habits, such as smoking, compulsions, and binge eating.
While the patient is in a relaxed state of hypnosis, the therapist will use language to reinforce new behaviors or goals.
If you’re trying to quit smoking, the therapist may suggest the next time you smoke, it will taste poorly.
If you want to let go of an ex, the therapist will help you reframe your thinking to feeling safe and capable on you’re own.
This type of hypnotherapy is beautiful for relaxation, reframing the mind, and aligning with energies. It’s especially beautiful when paired with Reiki (which I use in all sessions).
In the simplest terms, NLP is a reframing of the mind, not a deep dive into a root cause. For deeper issues, other therapies (listed below) can work better.
RTT (Rapid Transformational Therapy)
Rapid Transformational Therapy (or RTT) was developed by world-renowned therapist Marisa Peer. RTT can present current life issues, inner child wounds, and even conscious trauma.
Most times, the things we think affected us don’t come up in RTT sessions. You may go into an RTT session expecting to visit one memory or belief. But instead, something completely different comes up.
The reason this happens is that the traumatic event you remember isn’t the root cause. The root cause is your interpretation of the events at hand.
In RTT, you see the events that changed your perspective and built feelings of trauma in your body. As a practitioner, I understand the body (and subconscious) is trying to protect you.
I help you thank the event for protecting you. I help you understand the event, let it go, and move on. When you understand the why and when (of a traumatic event) it’s easier to deal with it head-on.
I will mention here that while RTT is very effective at getting to the root cause, it can open up some wounds. I highly recommend having an excellent support system in place after an RTT session.
QHHT (Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique) and PLR (Past Life Regression)
QHHT was pioneered by Dolores Cannon in the 1960s. QHHT works with the subconscious mind to focus on past life regression.
By regressing (taking them back) clients into their past lives, Dolores was able to help them heal. She helped many clients heal both physical and mental ailments through hypnosis.
QHHT relies on the somnambulistic stage. This is a brain wave state only experienced twice a day – right after waking, and right before falling asleep.
In QHHT sessions, a therapist has direct communication with the subconscious mind. The subconscious is asked if there are ailments (or trauma) from past lives that are present to teach the client a life lesson. If so, we ask if there are any reasons the body cannot or should not be healed. If the ailment can be treated without interfering with the patient’s goals for this lifetime, we ask the subconscious to heal it.
Oftentimes, when the subconscious understands why an ailment is happening, it will process that information, and remove it.
Allergies are a common issue that is often brought into this lifetime from a past life.
There are no guarantees, but I have witnessed some amazing transformations in my clients.
It’s important to note that these hypnotherapy types are categorized separately, but they’re very intertwined.
Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique (QHHT) is the method.
Past Life Regression (PLR) is the result.
LBL (Life Between Lives)
Life Between Lives hypnosis was pioneered by Dr. Michael Newton. It helps you discover who you are, why you’re here, and your soul’s journey.
In LBL, you can get clarity on your life experiences so far, why they may have happened, and how to move forward in life with confidence.
You may encounter your spirit guides (that can be comical at times), to let you know they’ve always had your back.
For people with anxiety, LBL often provides peace of mind. It also helps them get laser-focused on their next steps in life.

This type of hypnotherapy uses QHHT (mentioned above) to help people heal themselves. It works by using the power of suggestion to alter brain chemistry and stimulate the body’s natural healing processes.
